So around this time last year I got an email from someone at Disney asking me if I wanted to take part in a project involving my drawings but didn’t say exactly what it was, I was kept in the dark while the people at Disney thought up of the proposal but they wanted to make sure I was on board with working with them.
Fast forward a few months and the WonderGround Gallery is born. It’s located in Downtown Disney at Disneyland California. I’ve been keeping this on the down low until now, and if you know me at all you know I LOVE Disney and I’m terrible at keeping secrets, so this one was a doozy.
The first show at WonderGround is of artwork inspired by Disney-Pixar films, as well as pieces inspired by Mickey Mouse. The opening of the show is June 9th, so if you’re in California, make sure you make it out to this event! I wish I was going but I’m moving soon and can’t afford to fly out at the moment, so let me live vicariously through you.
Above is my piece “Merida the Brave,” inspired by Disney-Pixar’s Brave. I have another piece in the show but it’s going to be revealed at the opening. It’s originally 16” x 20” done in colored pencils with chalk pastels on paper. I’ll post progress photos later this afternoon.

New to the shop! Design your own rings and brooches! Instead of making specific designs, I decided to offer the options for you guys to pick your own. You have the 35 different illustrations to chose from.
They’re made from 1” flat back pins which make the ring extremely durable, picture a 1” pin on your backpack but now stick that on a ring you can wear everyday. The cameo it’s sitting on is made from laser cut wood, I had the cameo designed especially for my shop.
The ring is set onto of a surgical steel adjustable ring, so it should fit most ring sizes and it won’t irritate your skin.
This is just the first of hopefully many customizable products i hope to be offering really soon! Keep your eyeballs peeled.

Packing orders! The yarn you buy in the kids sections at craft stores is one of my favorite packaging supplies.

You might remember this time last year I had a second shop called City Song Vintage, well I’m finally getting around to updating it! I’ve been literally hoarding tons of vintage clothing, I’m going to be adding more soon but for right now it’s filled with shoes and jewelry.
All of the jewelry is only $5, which include earrings, brooches, and rings. Make sure to stop by City Song Vintage sometime to check out the selection.

I was deeply saddened over the loss of Maurice Sendak, like most kids I’m sure, “Where The Wild Things Are,” was one of my favorite books growing up. I remember getting it at the library with my first library card, I was always drawn to the books with big, big illustrations. So anyway when the girls at Ten Paces & Draw asked me to illustrate something for a Sendak tribute post, I jumped at the chance to be apart of it.
I didn’t really sketch it out, I just put the pencil to the paper with a general idea and this is where i landed. I went with the idea of Max but I did a gender swap, much like Natasha Allegri’s gender swapped Adventure Time characters. I just wanted to have a very somber looking Max holding the boat that she comes to the island on.
Click here to visit Ten Paces & Draw to check out other Maurice Sendak tribute drawings.
I’ll be offering prints of this piece eventually because I know a few people on instagram (I’m @dannybrito on there) asked for it.
Check back tomorrow for some progress photos of this piece! as well as a few other surprises.

I’ve wanted to do some posts on this blog to give some peeks into my everyday life, and this past weekend was Art Rock. I wasn’t vending this year because I wanted some time off from doing shows, I did Art Rock for the past two years in a row. It was really fun just attending the show, I was able to talk to some of my favorite local crafters without worrying what’s going on back at my booth.
Stitch of Whimsy and C.A.B. Fayre were probably my favorite, they’re always consistently creative and amazing. I was really stoked to get some veggie-dogs from PS561 but unfortunately for me, they flew like hotcakes and were sold out by the time I got there. Feverish Popsicles were there though, they’re always so delicious.
Saturday night was the Jacuzzi Boys show at Churchill’s Pub in Miami and I went to support my friend Paige that was doing photos for Saltyeggs.com (You can see the rest of her photos here). I honestly have heard of Jacuzzi Boys but never got around to listening to them, they put on such a good show! I need to swing by Radioactive and pick up one of their LPs.
I really love Saturdays like that, spent all day surround by really creative people. South Florida is surprisingly inspiring sometimes.
