I made this bunting flag sign for City Song Vintage’s booth at Retro Indie Market next month, I thought It would make for a fun and easy project to do so here’s a quick DIY post!
- Some of the things you’ll need are a pen, a pencil (I’m using a charcoal pencil), twine or thin rope, a safety pin, scissors, printed out letters, and a nice sturdy fabric.
- Optional supplies are a sewing machine or needle and thread and a sharpie marker or acrylic paint.
Now for the steps:
- Cut out the shape you want for your flags on a piece of paper and trace it onto the fabric, and then cut it out.
- I measured my flag and printed out my letters in photoshop in the appropriate size, the font I used was Pointedly Mad.
- Take your pencil and trace the back of the print out, make sure to cover all the edges of the letter.
- Place the letter where you’d like it on the flag front side up, trace the outlines with a pen with firm pressure on a flat hard surface. The pencil you traced on the back will transfer on to the flag.
- OPTIONS: Now you can either chose to fill in the letter with your choice of paint or you can take the easy way out like me, and use a sharpie. I love the sketchy look it gives the letters and keeps the flags really light weight.
- Cut a thin strip of fabric about half an inch thick and the same length of the flag.
- OPTIONS: Now you can sew it with your sewing machine or hand sew it if you don’t have a machine. I used my machine.
- Place the strip at the top on the back of the flag, and sew a line down the top of the strip and then a separate line down the bottom of the strip, this will create a tube on the back of the flag.
- Tie your twine to the safety pin
- Pass the twine through tube you just created until you reach the end, and you’re done!
It’s really simple, pretty much anyone could do this. I leave the edges of the flags raw, but you could easily finish the edges with a fray check or a Serger.

Anonymous asked: Heyy im a young student trying to get to uni and im sending off some mixed media work iv'e done to do with graffiti and i was wondering what your opinion was on graffiti... i am trying to say how it could be good to increase art culture and have a happier society as more people will express themselves ... i dont like tags but i do like proper wall art ... i would be grateful for anything you would have to say :)
i think street art is wonderful, as long as its just not tags. Not that I have anything against tags, I just don’t think it’s what a school wants to see. People could do amazing things with spray paint. I just actually went downtown today to check out the walls that were finished in the week after art basel, I’ll be posting photos soon.
Definitely include some traditional stuff as well to show you can do a variety of things.
Feel free to send a link, I’d love to see your work.
I might have not finished school, but I got into two really great schools. So Good luck! I hope it goes well.

I only have two of these left, and two of another design. I need to make some more soon, but for now they’re in the shop!

I did this drawing as a christmas gift for Sara Leigh, her best friend approached me about it a few months ago at a show and commissioned me to do a portrait of the both of them. Its got a light vs dark theme to it with both of their cute pets!
Sara’s one of my favorite crafters in south florida so it was fun to draw something for her. If you’re interested in a commission check out my shop.

Guess what! I’m moving my shop over to Big Cartel! I love, love Etsy but with the fees I felt like I might have needed to raise prices to balance out the high bills every month. I’m going to miss Etsy but now that I don’t have to worry about a high bill each month, prices will remain the same.
I’m going to keep my etsy shop up for the time being while the listings are still paid for but no “new” listings will be added there. I’m really excited about it because it gives me more freedom with what I can do with my shop, good things are coming in 2012!
In celebration of the grand opening, head over to the new shop location and use the discount code: GRANDOPENING for 20% off your total order.
Reblog to help spread the word, and make sure to update your links if my shop is linked on your blog. Thanks everyone!
ps. updated my website and blog a little, take a look around!

Thinking of moving my shop to Big Cartel
any artist or shop on etsy ever done this before, could you share your experience? As you begin to sell more and more on etsy the bill is higher each month, it’s almost getting to be not worth it.
